"Female Viagra" Comes To Drugstores
http://www.boston.com/"Todd Andrews, a CVS spokesman, said sex enhancement products overall are showing ''explosive growth" and the pharmacy chain has more than quadrupled the amount of shelf space devoted to the category over the last two years. He says demand is being driven in part by aging baby boomers, who view sexual intimacy as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle."

Could Intrinsa Be Back On Track?
http://home.businesswire.com"The FDA updated its guidance on safety and efficacy for testosterone therapies used to treat Female Sexual dysfunction by removing the major hurdle of requiring long-term safety studies prior to approval. Estimates vary, but the consensus is that the U.S. and European market for these therapies exceeds $7 billion. Currently, there are no approved products that address this unmet need.
The FDA will now allow companies to opt to complete the longer-term safety information "post-marketing". The FDA acknowledged that testosterone is used widely today (off-label) for the problem and it's preferable to have FDA-approved products from pharma companies. Given the FDA's negative decision last year on Procter & Gamble's competing product, we view the revised guidance as substantially positive. Both Proctor & Gamble and Antares have late clinical stage testosterone products and this decision re-opens exciting near-term opportunities."

Female Orgasm Studies
http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/"For example, by studying paralysed women who can still experience orgasm, they discovered that for women, the vagus nerve appears to be quite important, and therefore may be a promising target for drugs. This nerve - which is outside the spinal cord - carries information to areas of the brain that control mood.
"We basically found the areas of the brains that are activated in orgasm in women," said Barry Komisaruk, who worked with Whipple on this research, which is being funded by the federal government and the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation.
Brain scans measure the blood flow of research volunteers, whose heads are strapped tightly down inside the noisy machines. When brain cells start firing in a part of the brain that governs a particular emotion or activity, they need more oxygen, which is carried by the blood. During a brain scan, active regions of the brain can be seen lighting up on a computer monitor."

Intrinsa Alternatives?
http://www.rednova.com"The makers of Femprox, a cream designed to increase blood flow and arousal, say their elixir has a "high probability" of being the first to hit the market.
"We believe we've got one that fits the bill because of its unique pharmacology," said Dr. James Yeager, a consultant for New Jersey-based NexMed who is heading the studies for Femprox.
Still, it will be a few years before it's available.
The Center for Sexual Dysfuntion at the Lahey Clinic North Shore in Peabody is one of the sites in the Zestra trial.
The so-called "feminine arousal fluid," which hit stores recently, doesn't need FDA approval but researchers want to determine how well it works, and which women will benefit most.
"They are so confident they are putting it through the rigors of an FDA trial," said Dr. Andre Guay, director of the Peabody clinic.
Guay said the nasal spray - PT-141 - appears to be the most promising prescription drug in the works. It's a stimulating hormone designed to work on both women and men. "

Intrinsa Tries Again For FDA Approval...
http://www.latimes.com/"Two new studies in recent months have reignited debate about Intrinsa, a product once hailed as "the female Viagra." A study published last week in the Archives of Internal Medicine, and conducted by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Dr. Glenn D. Braunstein and colleagues, found that women who used the patch for 24 weeks reported, on average, a 67% increase in their sexual desire, compared with a 48% increase in desire reported by women taking a placebo, or dummy pill. It also boosted the number of "satisfying sexual encounters" from an average of three per month to five â slightly higher than the increase reported by women taking the placebo. A similar finding was reported in May by researchers at Baylor Medical College.
Accompanying the studies, however, were commentaries that reflected the crosscurrents that have buffeted Intrinsa on its path to market: a desire, on the one hand, to address the needs of women who suffer distress because of low sex drive, and, on the other, a rekindled caution about the risks of potential "lifestyle" drugs and the safety of medications that are rushed to market. "

Intrinsa Study Reviewed
http://www.usnews.com/"This study reported that women who had gone through surgically induced menopause experienced more desire to have sex and more sexual arousal after using the patch for six months. Researchers tried three different doses of hormones during the study; women wearing the middle dose showed the biggest improvements. The lowest dose did not have a significant effect, and the highest dose improved women's sex drive no more than the middle dose. Studies on using the patch for natural menopause have shown positive results, though the data have not yet been peer-reviewed."

Women taking the lowest dosage (150 micrograms per day) showed no evidence of an effect. Those in the highest-dose group (450 micrograms) had increases in sexual desire but were no different from the placebo group when rating sexual satisfaction."

No Link Between Testosterone & Female Sex Drive

This might seem to be bad news for the score of drug companies developing testosterone products in hopes of tapping the estimated $1 billion market for a female counterpart to Viagra.
"Our study is going to frustrate a lot of doctors," said the lead author, Susan Davis, an endocrinologist at Monash Medical School in Australia. Treating female sexual complaints "is not just about giving testosterone. It's far, far more complicated."

The effects are unknown on women who still have their ovaries. "

Free Hydroderm Trial
Reduce fine lines and wrinkles with Hydroderm! Because of the Hollywood hype of Botox®*, consumers are failing to realize the adverse effects of Botox®*. Bleeding, bruising and infection are just a few risks of injected Botox®* treatments. With Hydrodermâ¢, you apply the Hydroderm liquid with your fingertips and see the results â younger-looking, smoother skin with less fine lines and wrinkles. Hydroderm--for excellent results!!!
How does Hydroderm Work?
Hydroderm consists of marine collagen and Vyo-Serum. Thanks to this formula and our patent pending collagen infusion technology, Hydroderm has created a new cosmetic delivery system. As a result, Hydroderm stands apart from all other collagen-based products available on the market. How does the Hydroderm technology work?
What we call the Collagen Infusion Delivery System⢠is a patent pending, liquid-based solution that will allow the Hydroderm ingredients to be transferred directly to the human skin. The Hydroderm results will amaze you.
Collagen is a protein with a high molecular weight, making it a difficult substance to deliver to the skin. Hydroderm is the only product clinically proven to deliver collagen directly to the skin, without painful injections. The rest of the molecules remain in the upper skin layer (epidermis), where they slow down the loss of skin moisture.
Dr. Judy Laverich, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, says the following about Hydroderm:
Since the introduction of Hydroderm, I have been telling my patients that, finally, there is a no injection, no pain way to help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By simply applying this (Hydroderm) serum to your problem areas once in the morning and once at night, wrinkles and fine lines seem to fade in as little as a few days! There are no known side effects to Hydroderm and the product is affordable to just about everyone.
The secret to Hydroderm is the revolutionary delivery system that allows for the delivery of actual marine collagen to the skin. Other collagen products are limited to the delivery of only collagen precursors. Hydroderm's combination of selected proteins (Vyo-serum and collagen) results in a significant reduction of those unwanted lines and wrinkles. I use Hydroderm myself, and noticed a change within one week!

AlphaDerma CE
Clinically Proven Results!
AlphaDerma CE is the most aggressive step taken to Reverse Fine Lines and Depth of Wrinkles on the Face and Neck due to aging. Our AlphaDerma formulation also diminishes stretch marks and scars while firming sagging skin due to weight loss and pregnancy. The clinical ingredients in AlphaDerma CE are what make it so effective. ACETYL HEXAPEPTIDE-AH3 (ARGIRELINE) relaxes facial muscle contractions to smooth out fine lines and depth of wrinkles. ALPHA LIPOIC ACID, VITAMIN C ESTER and DMAE is already recognized as a clinical treatment to combat skin aging. Alpha Lipoic Acid, the most potent antioxidant on the market today, helps repair aged skin while preventing future damage. VITAMIN C ESTER (ascorbyl palmitate) boosts protective antioxidant action and helps repair past damage by aiding new collagen production. DMAE often called âfacelift in a jarâ, helps Firm and Tighten the skin. ELASTIN is the main ingredient in the skin that allows it to stretch without leaving stretch marks. AlphaDerma CE contains 100% rare, costly, freeze-dried powdered ELASTIN concentrate â which has almost 100% amino acid content. This makes our ELASTIN 10x in our AlphaDerma more potent than any other standard ELASTIN products used in the U.S. or abroad. COLLAGEN is an integral part of the support structure of the skin. The addition of our collagen to the AlphaDerma formulation fills in unwanted fine lines and wrinkles. Our special delivery system in AlphaDerma allows the collagen to be absorbed into the lower levels of the epidermis - which is the "birth" layer of new cells. Our collagen is hydrolyzed collagen, which is a form of collagen that is broken into smaller molecules, allowing it to be more easily absorbed into the epidermis.
AlphaDerma CE's superior blend of ingredients treats your skin on may levels. The competition just doesn't compare.
AlphaDerma CE also goes on silky smooth, with no oily feeling or odors, and absorbs instantly. Best of all, you can see and feel the results almost immediately!
Better Than Botox®!

Intrinsa - Female Sexual Enhancement
When it comes to testosterone and its impact on sexuality, medical science and the large pharmaceutical companies have been far more focused on the inability for males and testosterone issues involving their inability to act upon sexual desire rather than the analogous female sexual desire problems involving lack of testosterone. Perhaps, the male problem had an easier pharmaceutical fix or perhaps the big drug companies felt that there was much more money to be made off men who could not get and maintain an erection (which might or might be true) as opposed to developing a female testosterone skin patch. Anyway, in the last bunch of years, Viagra became the biggest drug launches of all time and the popularity of Viagra brought the problems of testosterone and male sexual dysfunction to the forefront of public consciousness. Most recently, Levitra and Cialis were released that are supposed to be improvements to Viagra. However, the drug companies were not able to develop a female Viagra or any comparable product for female testosterone levels...until now.
Proctor & Gamble (better known for household products) announced that clinical trials for a female testosterone skin patch, which they will market under the name "Intrinsaâ, were very successful. Though they do not have a product release date for Intrinsa, they believe that Intrinsa will be available in the marketplace sometime in 2005. The Intrinsa female testosterone skin patch contained minute levels of testosterone into the bloodstream and it was shown that the Intrinsa testosterone skin patch increased the frequency of satisfying sexual activity in women by over 50%. The role of testosterone in female sexual desire has been long known, but this seems to be the first product to put this knowledge about testosterone into practice. The Intrinsa female testosterone skin patch improves all the components of the female sexual cycle including arousal, orgasm, pleasure, responsiveness, and self-image.
We know that Viagra has evolved into a drug that men without testosterone problems take for an enhanced sexual experience. Will this new female Viagra, Intrinsa, evolve similarly...from a patch that will turn lack of female testosterone into increased female sexual desire through testosterone to a patch that women can get to increase sexual pleasure and responsiveness that was normal to begin with through an increase of testosterone? Only time will tell. It is predicted that this will be a billion-dollar drug anyway but if Intrinsa gets used as a female aphrodisiac instead of a female testosterone skin patch, this will be one of the most successful drug launches of all time. Intrinsa should be one drug that both men and women can get very "hot and bothered" about.
